The course aimed to provide a new perspective on the role of youth work in the context of the Green Deal and to discuss learning opportunities, mentoring, career guidance and funding for greener Europe and sustainable development practices.

The Ideas Ark training course was an invitation to young workers to rediscover their creativity, take initiative, explore effective tools and methods of entrepreneurship education. In addition, they experienced and familiarized themselves with the launch phases of a sustainable start-up and discovered how to generate entrepreneurial project ideas using a Sustainable Business Model.

“After a first edition in November 2018, during which 36 youth workers became familiar with social entrepreneurship and prototyped 5 social startup ideas, we decided to continue this initiative and explore how we can integrate the new green practices in working with young people, but also how we can guide and support young people to propose sustainable and nature-friendly initiatives in their communities, aligned with the European Green Compact,” said Emilia Radu, president of the Monomyths Association.

As part of the project, the young workers and organizations participating in the training course contributed to the creation of an open-access digital map that, once completed, will include 100 green startup models initiated by young people and non-profit organizations, #Green100, with the aim of promoting green ideas that solve global problems.

We can also check the testimony of one of the Portuguese participants: “During 8 days, we had the privilege to be in Bucharest, Romania, to learn more about how to have an entrepreneurial mindset having in mind the urgent need to be more sustainable nowadays. Throughout the training course, carefully organized by Monomyths Association, we were challenged to create a prototype of a startup with a sustainable business model that would address the needs mentioned in the European Green Deal and consequently help achieve the 2050 carbon neutrality goal. In addition, we also had the opportunity to visit the houses that EFdeN built, which had the particularity of having sustainable architecture and a self-sustaining system that gave life to all the constructions. It was an enriching experience and we thank all the participants from Lithuania, Denmark, Hungary, Reunion Island, Spain, Croatia and Greece for the excellent contributions. However, a special thanks goes to the trainers – Emilia Radu and Luminita Ene – who gave their heart and knowledge, and the person in charge of all the logistics – Alina Dumitru – who make sure that everyone felt comfortable during this experience.”
